Reasons why this video is amazing:

  1. The look of GLEE on Daniel Bedingfields face at the thought of working again.
  2. Sugababes with 66% original members
  3. Tom from Keane looks a lot like James May (I HAVE ONLY JUST REALISED)
  4. All the bands and singers that were like OMG IMPORTANT back in 2004, and I had actually forgotten about now
  5. BUSTED
    • The look of boredom on Charlie from Busted’s face. Cheer up you giant eyebrowed man.

I think I’ve admitted previously my secret love for Lady Gaga, but this video is just marv. (Yes, I am shortening words, because i’m actually too lazy to write the full word. MARVELLOUS. There you go.)

An older song this, but still a favourite. And not just because Brandon Boyd is a pretty pretty boy. But it helps.
Listening to Incubus reminds me of my first year of uni, listening to Make Yourself and Morning View over and over. I can still listen to those albums and not get bored of them!
I prefer the acoustic version of this song because it seems to suit being acoustic better! The album version is very brash, lots of noise (still good though!)

I first heard this song at the end of the very last episode of Veronica Mars. She goes to vote in the elections, then walks out and its raining. I love that show, and they always choose good music (I seem to prefer TV shows when they choose music that is similar to my tastes. Strange.)
I love this video, its so very 70’s! I never realised how similar Albert Hammond and his son look (who’s song “Hard To Live In The City” has been posted about before on the blog)

This song will always make me think of being in Lower Sixth, a specific place and time even.

This weeks choice is a little different. Its not quite a song, but a rap that Natalie Portman did on Saturday Night Live about 2 years ago. It makes me laugh when I hear it because she raps about things you wouldn’t quite expect of her.
Its actually by a band called the Lonely Planet, and this song is from their album Incredibad, where you’ll hear such “classics” as “Dick In A Box”. Go look that one (and it’s sequel, “Mother Lover”) up on YouTube. Justin Timberlake never looked so 1990’s.

The swears in this version are bleeped out, but its possibly NSFW!
“Lyrics” are below…

I apologise for the dreadful video this week – the proper versions of the video on You Tube have the audio disabled!

This weeks song is not because I really love it, but because my Mum always told me that this was number one when I was born. (I just looked it up on Wikipedia, and my Mum was a bloody liar!) Red Red Wine by UB40 was actually number one on the day I was born. But I really hate that song, so here is Boy George. Erm, enjoy?

(p.s. its mah birfdays tomorrow and I am well excited. Yeah. Excited enough to listen to Boy George? Erm, not quite)

Instead of one song, this is a random covers type band that I heard on Radio 1 recently, and it made me giggle a LOT.
They are called the Countryside Alliance Crew, and they do remixes and reworkings of some urban hits.
I think this version of Dizzee Rascals – Bonkers is my favourite, its been renamed Wurzzi Rascal – Conkers.
Bands, can we have more West Country-fied songs please?

I love this song so much. I first heard it when I first moved to Bristol last year, and thought that it wasn’t really that hard to live in the city (you see what I did there? Oh never mind)
After living here a year or so, its still not too hard to live in the city, but sometimes, this girl needs a bit of country side time. I’m off to the Wife’s house tonight (getting the train to Castle Cary after drinks with some old colleagues…that can’t be good) and I can’t wait to see my lovely accounting geek friends!
As usual, the lyrics are under the cut.

I love love love this cover version of the Virgins - Rich Girls. I mean, I love the original, but this is just that little bit more awesome.
